The Claremore Pizza Hut can seat us in the Claremore Room Tuesday, February 21 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Bring the entire family, order a pizza or just something to drink, and enjoy some time as a group together. This would be Dutch and not considered a school function. We have enjoyed to kids and miss seeing everyone since football season. Please let me know if you think you will be coming, so I can let Pizza Hut know about how many to expect.

Many of you have heard my countdown until the end of the school year and I thought I would include this in these emails as well. For Seniors, there are 25 weeks until Graduation!

On to the next round of the play-offs! Friday, we will be traveling to Seminole. Here are the details. The kids will need to be at the school at 4:00 p.m. and will leave at 4:15 p.m. They will make a stop in Stroud at McDonald’s on the way to the game. The marching uniforms will not be used and we will only play in the stands (participation is not optional), so dress warm!

11/8/11 - Big Red Sound Future

Thanks to all who were present at the Band Booster meeting last night.

A huge topic of conversation was the future of our Big Red Sound. As many of you know, we have a very large group of seniors this year. This means, there is a large group of parents who will not be participating in key areas, beginning next year. If the band is to be successful, going forward, parents of younger students need to step up NOW to learn what it takes to make all the things possible that have been working thus far. Two areas, in particular, are the MBO representative position(s) and drivers for the truck and equipment trailer. Concessions are the single-most, money-making fund raiser for the band. We are the largest group at the school and we have to be represented well to ensure our take in the proceeds are protected. In our class of bands, we are the best – simply put. And part of what makes us look so fabulous is the huge assortment of extras we have in the “pit” of the marching show. Again, parents who are currently taking on this role of making sure the truck and trailer are available will be gone next year.

None of these areas take a huge amount of time, unless it falls on one person. With the teamwork of several, this will thrive to be the backbone of the success of the Big Red Sound.

Please email me to let me know what you are ready to do to participate going forward and I will put you in touch with the appropriate people.

11/8/11 - MBO Concession Transfer Help Needed and Beef Jerky Update

Sorry about all the emails, but I have two things I need to communicate.

One, this Saturday, beginning at 8:00 a.m., the MBO will be taking inventory of all the items in the football concession area and transferring it to the basketball area. Each group needs at least one representative to help. Our MBO representative is unavailable and needs to ask for help. There will be a lot of counting, lifting, loading, and unloading. Strong arms and a pick-up or two are needed. Please let me know as soon as possible so I can let them know who we are sending.

Two, the representative of the beef jerky sales has informed us that the jerky is being shipped via UPS ground and we will not be able to anticipate its exact arrival. So, we need to plan so that volunteer time is not wasted. It has been decided that we will hand out beef jerky Tuesday, November 29, instead of the date previously discussed. Please let me know who is available for that date.

Sorry about the confusion, but being organized has its pitfalls!
